Webinar on Pile Driving Vibrations Aug. 3; Register Today

PDCA Past President and current president of Herbert F. Darling Inc., Buck Darling (pictured, left) has offered insightful perspectives to pile driving contractors throughout his years of involvement in PDCA. He recently indicated that the PDCA 2021 Education Webinar Series installment slated for August 3rd from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM EDT featuring Dr. Cathy Aimone-Martin (pictured, right) will be an enlightening program, certain to provide valuable perspectives on a key consideration in pile driving - vibrations.

"Catherine was a featured speaker for the Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA) at the recently held International Foundation Construction and Equipment Exposition (IFCEE) conference held in Dallas, Texas," stated Darling. "Her knowledge of not only the technical aspects of vibration and vibration control, but the effects they have on the pile driving industry and its practitioners (mostly undeserved) is unparalleled. She has the education and academic experience to back up a career in industry and consulting on one of the most vexing problems perceived with the pile driving industry, to go along with her overall expertise in geology and mining! Her presentation is not to be missed."

Dr. Martin's August 3rd presentation is entitled Pile Driving Vibrations - Monitoring and Analysis and will review and discuss the following:
  • Best practices used to monitor and manage ground and structure vibrations during pile driving
  • The origins and justifications of vibration limits found in many pile driving project specifications

  • Use of seismographs to develop a site vibration attenuation model

  • Projects where claims of structure damage were circumvented or easily refuted based on sound measured data
