This 1 day course covers:
Introduction to the theory of vibrations during pile driving,driving piles with a vibro hammer, soil fatigue using a vibro and impact pile driving hammer and steel pile damage assessment. 

The course provides an introductory look at the theory behind vibrations during pile driving and explains the logic behind the limits for vibration levels
that are used in specifications for vibration monitoring. Additional topics cover driving piles with a vibro hammer and includes large diameter pipe piles
and related case studies. The attendee will also hear about soil fatigue phenomenon during vibratory and impact pile driving sequences. Finally, our
presentation will conclude with a discussion of steel pile damage assessment with two case studies, one from Vietnam and one from Boston. The goal of
this course is to strengthen the student's knowledge of the advanced pile driving issues and geotechnical engineering tools to mitigate potential pile
driving problems.

Day At The Races:
The Chapter will also host it's "Day At The Races" event on Friday, October 23, 2015.  The event will be back at Golden Gate Fields, 1100 Eastshore Highway, Berkley.  Announcements have been sent, so look at your email to RSVP for this fun day or just find out more about the schedule and activities.   

Holiday Luncheon:
The Chapter will hold its Annual Pile Driving Contractors Holiday Luncheon on December 4, 2015, at the Hotel Mac, 50 Washington Avenue, Richmond, CA (510-233-0576).  This special annual event will help raise money for the Chapter's Scholarship Fund.  The amount of money raised for the fund will depend on your participation and the quality of your joke that will be judged by the chapter membership it's all in good fun, so don't miss this traditional chapter event.  Festivities will begin at 11:30 AM with a Cash Bar, followed by lunch, a few brief announcements and then on to the fun stuff.


The PDCA of South Carolina Chapter hosted its 11th Annual Oyster Roast on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the offices of Palmetto Pile Driving in Charleston, SC.

On Thursday, October 10, two safety presentations were made at the PDCA of Florida Quarterly Meeting in Jacksonville.  The first presentation, Crane Safety, was made by Mr. Dean Sims II, Vice President of Marketing for Sims Crane and Equipment.  The second presentation, Pile Driving Safety, was made by Mr. Bryan Stone, Safety Director for Superior Construction.  Both gentlemen have made a copy of their presentation available to those members who were either unable to attend or would simply like a copy for use in their own safety planning and preparation.  To download a copy of each presentation just click on the appropriate link below:
