Committees
PDCA Committees are a significant resource to the association, its members, and the driven pile industry. Each Committee has a Chair who is appointed by the PDCA President and each Committee has a Board Director who acts as a liaison between the Committee and the Board of Directors. Each committee meets between 4 to 6 times a year. One of those meetings is held at the PDCA's Annual Conference, while the remainder are generally conducted by conference call.
All PDCA members are eligible to serve on any PDCA committee(s). Any member of the PDCA who has an interest in serving on one or more of the PDCA Committees; or who would like to find out more about the functions performed by each committee, its responsibilities and the responsibilities of the committee members should contact the PDCA via email or call the PDCA office toll-free at 888-311-7322.

Communications Committee

The task of this committee is the establishment of editorial guidelines and content review of PDCA publications. The focus of their work is directed to our quarterly magazine, PILEDRIVER and the PDCA website. This committee also oversees the Project of the Year Award, the Driven Pile Overview CD project and e-mail communications.

This committee is responsible for all educational programs, specifically the Annual Meeting held in late winter each year and the annual Design and Installation of Cost Efficient Driven Pile (DICEP) Conference held each year in the fall. The committee reviews presentation recommendations and procures speakers for each event. Additionally, the committee oversees the College Professor's Piling Institute, held biennially in Logan, Utah.
The committee is also developing a set of short videos that will explain various aspects of driven pile fabrication and installation. In addition to their other activities, the committee is working with the FHWA to develop a "webinar", an interactive presentation provided via the internet, on advances in pile driving equipment.

This PDCA committee was established to focus on environmental issues related to pile driving such as noise, vibrations, air pollution and biodegradable fuels. This committee coordinated with The Citadel to begin work on a pile driving noise and vibration database. The purpose of this database is to provide hard facts and reliable information on the actual level of vibrations created by pile driving operations. This committee is charged with developing industry data and promotional programs for the driven pile. The PDCA has begun exhibiting at more industry events in order to raise the visibility of the Association, recruit new members and promote the driven pile. The Market Development Committee will also be working on increasing the resources available to PDCA to better respond to inquiries related to the pile driving industry.

This committee is responsible for the recruitment and retention of PDCA members. Membership is the lifeblood of any organization. The goal of this committee is to increase our membership by encouraging pile driving contractors, those who manufacture and supply piling, pile driving equipment and pile accessories, those that design and test piles and others that are related to and depend on our industry to join our association.

This critical committee is charged with developing and updating the PDCA Code Book, "Recommended Design Specifications for Driven Bearing Piles", as well as other technical initiatives. The Technical Committee recently completed work on a set of installation specifications for private sector work. You can obtain a copy of this specification on this website.
