The PDCA of the South Carolina Chapter will host its 1st Quarter 2017 Chapter dinner meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Town and Country Inn, 2008 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM with a social/networking reception, followed by a buffet dinner and guest speaker.
Mr. Ed Stehmeyer III, P.E. - South Carolina State Ports Authority will be the guest speaker. Mr. Stehmeyer presentation is titled, "In-Situ Dynamic Pile Testing to Realize Wharf Renovation Savings". The presentation will focus on the fact that most of the SCSPA's facilities are along low-lying waterfront, constructed over water or on marginally stable ground, necessitating deep foundations. As a Project/Design Manager for the SCSPA, Mr. Stehmeyer is involved with the design and construction of new pile foundations. However, reuse of existing pile foundations can make engineering sense, save the Port money, and expedite construction schedules. Mr. Stehmeyer will present a case history where design phase load testing on existing piles was projected to save almost $10M and decrease the construction schedule by approximately 6 months.
The cost of this event is $30 per person, which includes the reception beverages, dinner buffet, and presentation. Payment can be made at the door the evening of the event. However, the Chapter is requesting RSVP. To make reservations, call S&ME, Inc. at 843-884-0005 or email CRoyston@SME.com by March 6, 2017.
A special "Thanks" to the meeting Sponsor, Parker Marine Contracting.
