PDCA Contributes to California PDCA Scholarship Fund

The PDCA of California Chapter held their Annual Luncheon on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Hotel Mac, Point Richmond, CA.  Charlie Gibson, President (Manson Construction) presided over the meeting, which began at 11:30 AM with a social followed by a buffet luncheon.  Upon completion of the luncheon, Charlie presented a short summary of the chapter activities including an update on the financial status of their scholarship fund.  During the meeting several PDCA of California member companies pledged contributions of $1000.00 to the fund, which is used to provide scholarships to engineering students.  During the meeting, PDCA (National) made a $1,000.00 pledge to the chapter's scholarship fund.


 
2008 Project of the Year Awards

Project of the Year Winners, Honorable Mention and Entries - The PDCA would like to thank all of the companies who participated in the PDCA 2008 Project of the Year Awards. 

The PDCA presented a PowerPoint presentation at the 12th Annual International Conference and Equipment Expo Awards Luncheon in Phoenix, AZ of all the 2008 entries.  The PPP included the entry categories, company name, project name and varios pictures of the project.  This year, the PDCA had 12 companies submit projects for the POY Award.  This ia a record number of participating companies for this prestigeous PDCA Award.  The PDCA will be expanding the categories and some criteria for the POY Award in 2009 andexpects to see more submittals as a result of these positive changes.

The Winning companies for the PDCA 2008 Project of the Year Award were Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman, Inc. for the Mystic Seaport Museum Lift Dock Replacement for the Project Value of Less than $1 Million.  The 2008 Project of teh Year Award for a Project with a Value of more than $1 Million went to Weeks Marine, Inc., for the APM Terminal Wharf Project in Portsmouth, VA.  Congratulations to both companies.

Receiving Honorable Mention for the excellent submittals were Kiewit Constructors, Inc. for the Gaylord National Harbor Hotel and Convention Center and Hal Jone Contractors for the Trout River Bridge at I-95.

Other submittals included projects by Richard Goettle, Inc. - Argosy Casino Expansion; Brayman Construction Corporation - Brunner Island Power Plant; Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. - Freeport Regional Intake Structure; Cajun Deep Foundations, LLC - Haliburton CFS Plant; Loftus Construction, Inc. - Huntingdon Place; Cajun Deep Foundations, LLC - Hurrican Katrina Repairs and Modifications - IHNC East Side, N. Clairborne to Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA; Cianbro Corp. - Natoinal Harbor; Cape Romain Contractors - SCDOT Project Charleston County, Bridges at US17 Across the Rantowles Creek and Wallace River.
