Board Votes to Remove Dues Requirement for Retired Memberships

2026 Retired Members final2
The PDCA community of Retired members is growing. Among them are Harry Robbins of Charleston, SC, Mike Terrell of Auburn, AL, and Perry Brumm of Milwaukee, WI.

In January 2026, the PDCA Board of Directors unanimously voted to offer complimentary PDCA membership to retired individuals--and the change took effect immediately. It's a meaningful way to stay connected to the driven pile community while recognizing the lasting contributions of industry veterans.

Retired memberships are individual-based and not tied to any company. Even so, retired members enjoy many of the same valuable benefits PDCA provides.

Ready to join? Visit JOIN PDCA at the top of the homepage and click the "I'm Ready to Join" button. You'll be prompted to Log-In or Create a Profile--simply choose "Create an Account." When setting up your profile, you can add a company name, address, and phone number. If you don't have a company, just click "skip" on the Organization Name page.

Once registered, you'll receive details on accessing education events, committees, the Technical Library, the Education Fund, and more!

Annual Northeast Chapter Education Program Fills 'Mini-Conference' Venue

26NE PDC1
26NE PDC2

The 2026 PDCA Northeast Professional Development Course is officially in the books--and dozens of pile driving professionals in and around New Jersey have gained new perspectives on their craft and the evolving deep foundations industry.

Host organization, the PDCA Northeast Chapter, presented this popular mini-conference once again, and it delivered big value in a one-day format. Program sponsor George Harms Construction Company in Howell, NJ, once again donated its conference room to be the event venue. Members attended free of charge, while non-members paid a nominal registration fee, making it an accessible and well-attended event for professionals across the region.

The program featured a strong lineup of presenters from leading organizations including Dewberry, GRL Engineers, Inc., PKF-Mark III, Drexel University, and Langan. Attendees benefitted from industry-specific content through presentations that took a deep dive into real-world case studies, engineering models and designs, and the latest research on driven pile applications. Those who completed the course earned up to 6 hours PDCA.

Beyond the technical content, the course offered plenty of opportunities to connect. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, coffee, and beverages kept conversations flowing throughout the day.

Best of all, proceeds from the event will support future PDCA Northeast Chapter programming and scholarships, helping invest back into the industry's next generation.

If you missed it this year, mark your calendar for the next program, which generally takes place in February. Once another Professional Development Course is scheduled, you will receive notice through PDCA publications and your inbox. This is one professional development opportunity that continues to raise the bar.

Buckeye State Blitz Brings Out Pile Driving Industry in NE Ohio

26BSB1

On February 19, 2026, PDCA brought the driven pile community together in a big way at the Buckeye State Blitz Networking Reception -- and Northeast Ohio showed up strong. Hosted at Wild Eagle Steak & Saloon in suburban Cleveland, the FREE reception attracted around 45 attendees from across the regional driven pile industry. Contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, civil engineers, and representatives from labor, USACE, DOT, and academia all gathered for an evening focused on connection, collaboration, and conversation. Best of all? PDCA membership was not required -- just an interest in strengthening the driven pile community.

The atmosphere was relaxed and energetic. With great food and drinks enabled by the generous support of sponsors and provided by PDCA, attendees had the chance to reconnect with longtime colleagues, meet new industry partners, and learn more about how PDCA is working to grow and strengthen its presence in Ohio and the surrounding region. A short program highlighted participation opportunities in the only organization exclusively advocating for the driven pile industry, as well as encouragement to those assembled, to consider helping grow PDCA through formation of a regional Chapter.

The event was made possible thanks to sponsors. Serving as the "Workin' Overtime" sponsor was American Equipment and Fabricating, Corp. Supporting as "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" sponsors were American Piledriving Equipment, International Construction Equipment, Jinnings Equipment, Kokosing, The Ruhlin Company, and the PDCA South Carolina Chapter. All sponsors were recognized in event materials and onsite signage.

The Buckeye State Blitz proved once again that when the driven pile community gets together, good things happen. PDCA looks forward to building on this momentum and continuing to grow relationships throughout the Buckeye State.

Building PDCA Visibility

Leading up to the Feb. 19th Buckeye State Blitz, PDCA was on the ground in Ohio, visiting PDCA members and other prospective members who operate in the driven pile industry, including crane dealers, equipment suppliers, general and specialty subcontractors, civil engineers, and more. During nearly 50 impromptu visits to companies throughout the Cleveland metro area, Akron and Canton, Columbus, and even some more remote towns throughout Northeastern and Central Ohio, PDCA staff stopped into nearly 50 different offices to greet the available personnel, invite them to attend the FREE industry reception, and leave them a copy of PileDriver magazine and other informational materials. Two of the several stops included a visit with Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. in Alliance, OH, and GRL Engineers, Inc./Pile Dynamics, Inc. in Solon, OH.
