PDCA Safety & Environmental Committee Chair discusses new Best Management Practices guide during 2025 Annual Conference
Safe practices in the workplace and on jobsites are a top priority for PDCA members. An ongoing initiative for the PDCA Safety & Environmental Committee (S&E Committee) has been the release and distribution of periodic Toolbox Talks, a one-page publication dedicated to a singular safety topic. It is designed for easy mobility and distribution among pile driving crews, and provides a thorough set of guidelines and reminders for a crew to consider during a jobsite safety meeting, before the work begins.
Drawing on the success of the recurring Toolbox Talks creation and dissemination, the S&E Committee was tasked with updating and refreshing the PDCA Best Management Practices guidebook, that was last produced nearly a decade ago. The new Pile Driving Safety and Environmental Best Management Practices guide, 2025 edition, is now available to PDCA members at no cost, you may visit The PDCA Store to download your copy, today.
It is an eight-section, 48 page publication complete with explanatory text on various safety considerations, illustrated with photos, graphics, diagrams, QR codes, and more. As stated in its Purpose of Scope, the intent of the guide is to provide contractors and owners with a guiding document based on safe working principles and risk management for a broad range of pile driving activities. The different sections address preconstruction, pile driving safety, material handling equipment safety, working over or near water, and more.
PDCA S&E Committee Chair Chris Normand debuted the new guidebook during the 2025 PDCA Annual Conference in San Antonio, at which time several hard copies were distributed to attendees. If you are interested in obtaining a hard copy of this publication, please contact PDCA to learn about its availability. Or, you are encouraged to visit The PDCA Store to download your copy today.
