Did You Know? PDCA Offers Vast Archive of Technical Webinars, Free to Members

JDF webinar
Alwyn McDowall presents a rare, 'on location' webinar from the J.D. Fields & Co. Houston office; PDCA's Kathy Harper and Frank Peters run the 'control room.'

Not every professional development opportunity requires a plane ticket, a hotel room or a full day away from the jobsite. Since 2020, PDCA's Value Driven Webinar Series has been bringing timely education and industry information directly to deep foundation professionals--at their desks.

What started during the unique circumstances of 2020 has grown into a valuable library of more than 50 archived programs, covering technical subjects, safety, legal issues, equipment, workforce development, engineering and real-world project experiences.

And there's an important member benefit: all PDCA virtual learning opportunities are offered at no cost to member companies and their employees. Non-members are welcome to participate for a nominal registration fee.

The archive offers something for just about everyone. A few examples include:

  • Cone Penetration Testing and Pile Driving: A Great Combination -- exploring how these technologies can work together in driven pile applications.
  • Pile Driving Vibrations Monitoring and Analysis -- examining an important consideration for projects where vibration monitoring is critical.
  • The Use of Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Piles: Products and Constructability -- looking at an alternative pile material and its practical applications.
  • Cold Weather Driving: Is Your Equipment Ready? -- addressing equipment considerations when winter conditions arrive.
  • Mastering Sheet Pile Design: Concepts, Computation, and Tools -- a technical look at sheet pile design.
  • Considerations for Testing Making the Most of Load Testing Programs -- focusing on how testing programs can provide meaningful information for foundation projects.
  • Steel Pipe Pile ERW Specifications: Challenges, Advantages and Solutions -- examining specifications and considerations surrounding ERW steel pipe piles.

That variety is really the value of the Value Driven Webinar Series. Whether you're looking to strengthen your technical knowledge, understand an emerging technology, brush up on safety or learn from an actual project experience, there's a good chance PDCA has a program worth your time.

Coming October 8: Securing the Cuyahoga

The next Value Driven Webinar Series presentation takes place Thursday, October 8, from 2:003:00 p.m. ET. The program, "Securing The Cuyahoga: The Combi-Wall That Holds Irishtown Bend," features Richard Goettle, Inc. Project Managers Nick Kloenne and Cody Schappacher.

The contractor case study examines a challenging Cleveland project involving a 2,200-foot rock-anchored combi-wall, marine pile installation, tieback anchors, dynamic load testing and complex navigation-channel logistics.

Professional Development Hours (PDH) are also available upon completion of approved webinars, adding another practical benefit to your participation.

And if you can't attend--or want to revisit a program later--check out the PDCA Store, where several archived webinars are available for download. Downloads are free for members and available for purchase by non-members. If you find a webinar in the archive that isn't currently available in the Store, contact PDCA Education Manager Kathy Harper at events@piledrivers.org to obtain access.

There's a lot of knowledge in the PDCA webinar library. Take advantage of it.
